CDUK – helping to tackle homelessness

Bristol entrepreneur, Stevie Mitchell founded Collective Decisions UK (CDUK) in 2019 to train and employ people from the homeless community to produce sustainable clothing through collaboration with local charitable partners.

Stevie explains what inspired him to start his social enterprise: “I started making changes with my personal fashion choices buying second-hand, but when looking to buy new from sustainable and ethical brands I found they were either too expensive or too niche for my taste which is what CDUK aims to solve.

“Walking through Bristol I spotted a handwritten sign that was left on the bench which read “94 people are sleeping on the streets tonight that seems like a solvable problem” and I completely agreed.

“Believing business should be about more than just making money, CDUK will not just be another ethical brand as we will use our resources to contribute to solving homelessness in our community.”

CDUK aims to tackle homelessness by establishing a training programme with the long-term hope of employing 94 people from the homeless community. We’ll be working with Stevie to see how his business can inspire and support our vision of everyone has a home.

Being part of the inc. programme has provided Stevie with the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by our colleague subject matter experts and mentors.

“Being part of the inc programme has given me access to the resources and support of a much larger organisation and that brings with it experience and opportunities to collaborate. Learning through the syllabus helps me to understand where I can make improvements while also acting as a partner along the journey.”
