Making Christmas happen for families in need
We often talk about how volunteering not only makes a difference to our communities but how it can make us feel good too. Christmas Complete is a great example of our colleagues gaining just as much as the projects they support.
Christmas Complete, a project run by Hampshire charity, SCRATCH, provides toys and gifts to disadvantaged children and young people who otherwise may not receive a present on Christmas day.
Kirstin Jennings, financial wellbeing officer, Claire Sloan, lettings assistant, Kate Pike, lettings co-ordinator and Emma McMaster, governance partner volunteered with SCRATCH through the Aster Foundation to help sort and pack parcels for families in need.
Emma told us: “It was a very rewarding and humbling experience working with the fantastic SCRATCH team. It was an honour to work alongside colleagues from around the business to serve our tenants and the wider community. An experience I will never forget.”
Jane Smith, Trustee of Scratch said: ‘We really appreciated all that the volunteers achieved on their SCRATCH day. Toys were sorted, puzzles were checked, and books grouped into appropriate ages. Their help supported the ‘Christmas Complete’ project that gives nearly 2000 vulnerable local children a parcel of gifts from Santa. Thank you Aster for your support.”
