Mindfulness is the quality of being present and fully engaged with whatever we’re doing in the moment, free from distraction or judgment, and aware of our thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them. We train in this moment-to-moment awareness through meditation, allowing us to build the skill of mindfulness so that we can then apply it to everyday life.
When you induce a state of relaxation, which can be achieved through mindfulness, another kind of meditation, or other activities, you can reap the benefits, including:
- Increased immune function
- Lowered blood pressure
- Lowered heart rate
- Increased awareness
- Increased attention and focus
- Increased clarity in thinking and perception
- Lowered anxiety and stress levels
Researchers Taylor and Millear (2016) found that mindfulness helps employees construct a buffer between their work and becoming burned out reducing staff turnover and increasing a greater sense of wellbeing in the workplace.
This introductory session is delivered on a face to face basis over 45 minutes and is an excellent addition to our stress and resilience in the workplace course.
Cost: £350 Maximum 20 attendees. This cost may be reduced if used in conjunction with stress awareness in the workplace course.
