Aster Group announces Cancer Research UK as its Charity of The Year

Having pledged to do all it can to have a positive impact on the lives of those living in its local communities, housing association, Aster Group has announced plans to support Cancer Research UK throughout 2019.

The business recently asked its colleagues to vote for their Charity of The Year and Cancer Research UK came out on top with 60% of the votes.

Aster colleagues will receive double match funding for Cancer Research UK when signing up for organised activities and events like Race for Life. Colleagues will also be encouraged to organise their own fundraising events like cake sales throughout the year.

Following closely behind in the Charity of The Year votes were Julia’s House, a local charity in Dorset and Wiltshire Air Ambulance, so Aster will also double match any funds raised by its colleagues for these charities.

Julie Cridland, from the Employee Experience team at Aster said: “Since we started our match funding initiative nearly three years ago, our colleagues have raised over £91k for charities close to their hearts with Aster contributing over £50K.

“Supporting our colleagues to take part in various challenges to raise money and awareness for charities of their choice won’t change, but we wanted to partner with a charity for 2019 and look for extra ways to support them. Voting showed just how much cancer has affected our colleagues and stories poured in to show support for various cancer charities.  We’re delighted to be able to give something extra back to Cancer Research UK and do our bit to help find a cure for this terrible disease.”
