Aster Group completes 94-home scheme in Weymouth

Ethical housing developer Aster Group has completed the construction of its 94-home Finn Square development in Weymouth, Dorset.

The new 2.73-acre scheme is located off Dorchester Road and includes 15 homes for open-market sale, 23 homes designated for shared ownership and 56 affordable rent apartments.

Finn Square, built on the site of the former Radipole Court, replaces 1960s architecture with new energy-efficient, high-quality homes. It sits on the edge of Lodmoor Hill Conservation Area, minutes from the seafront and close to local amenities and public transport.

Marytn Blackman, development director at Aster Group, said: “With assets of over £1 billion, we regularly review our own portfolio and housing stock to identify sites that could be redeveloped to deliver much-needed new homes to local communities. We identified sheltered housing scheme Radipole Court for redevelopment due to the age and condition of the units.

“The resulting Finn Square development has been built to satisfy the housing needs of a range of different people in Weymouth. Shared ownership is a key part of this as housing demand grows and more and more people are priced people out of open-market sale in the area.”
