Aster joins Vote 100 campaign

Developer and social landlord Aster Group is backing a new campaign that marks the 100th anniversary of some women being granted the vote in the UK.

The group, which owns and manages almost 30,000 homes across the south of England, is a partner to Vote 100, which commemorates the centenary of the Representation of the People Act 1918. The campaign has also been backed by Prime Minister Theresa May and Home Secretary Amber Rudd among others.

Aster is supporting the History of Parliament Trust on its Official Commemorative Album for Vote 100 Anniversary campaign. As part of its role in supporting Vote 100, Aster will help to raise the profile of the campaign in the housing sector and run an internal programme that engages employees and highlights the significance of the 1918 legislation.

Rachel Credidio, group people and transformation director at Aster Group, said: “Marking the centenary of some British women being given the vote is important, not just because of the significance of the Representation of the People Act but because the work of creating a society that has true gender diversity is still ongoing.

“In our own business we’re continuing our work in ensuring our organisation is fair in how it treats people. This includes making sure we have gender balance, of course, but also tracking other measures of diversity.

“Housing is no different from other sectors in needing to make progress on creating a truly diverse workforce. We’re hopeful our support for Vote 100 will keep this front of mind and allow our employees to engage with a campaign of national and international significance.”

As part of the Vote 100 events are planned to raise awareness in Westminster and across the UK.
