Event brings the local community together at Tithe Barn
Representatives from Aster Group, its joint venture partner Linden Homes, Exeter City Council, EON, the site team and members of the business community congregated to view the show homes at the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Deputy Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Lesley Robson, said: “I was delighted to launch the two show homes and was fascinated to hear all about the energy efficient features. Having studied Physics at university, I loved hearing all about how the district heating network operates and how it will benefit the residents at Tithe Barn.
“The new homes are really taking shape and I look forward to seeing how the development progresses.”
Amanda Williams, group development director at Aster Group, said: “The need for more homes is acute and this wonderful development is making the aspiration of home ownership a reality for hundreds of people.
“Our vision is simple: ‘everyone has a home’. Working with Linden Homes and its parent company Galliford Try, we will be delivering at least a further 480 new homes through our joint venture over the next few years, which brings us ever closer to achieving this vision.”
Brian Deacon, sales and marketing director for Linden Homes, said: “Not only will the homes at Tithe Barn be energy efficient, but they will also be built to a high specification. We are extremely excited to have launched Tithe Barn with Aster and the event was a real community affair, with canapés provided by Topsham’s Posh Nosh.”
Tithe Barn will comprise one, two, three and four bedroom high quality homes in a village-like setting, while being close to Exeter’s city centre.
Priced from £159,950, the properties are being built to level four of the Code for Sustainable Homes, which will reduce energy usage and have a positive impact on utility bills for all residents. Behind this is a state-of-the-art district heating network which includes remote metering technology so homeowners can keep track of how much energy they’re using.
Across the entire development, it is estimated that this new system will provide 7,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide savings per year – or the equivalent of removing 2,500 cars from the road.
The two show homes give homebuyers an opportunity to see how their new house could look, while providing lots of ideas in terms of interior design.
