Wiltshire apprentice nominated for excellence award
Devizes contact centre apprentice, Lauren Meacock, is celebrating after being shortlisted for the South West Contact Centre Forum (SWCCF)’s Apprentice of the Year award.
One of three apprentices on the shortlist, the nomination adds another jewel to Lauren’s crown, having already achieved employee of the month with Aster Group, the ethical developer and landlord.
The 26-year old earned her award nomination after flying through her NVQ programme, going the extra mile to undergo additional training and repeatedly demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
Lauren made the shortlist after being interviewed by a panel of five judges in May and the winner will be crowned at the awards night on 14 July at Bristol’s Marriott Hotel City Centre.
Lauren, who started at Aster nine months ago, said: “I was really nervous when I started my role at Aster, but the more I learn and practice my skills, the more confident I’ve become. My team are really supportive and encourage me to take up new training opportunities all the time. I’ve even been able to shadow different people around the business so I can answer customers’ questions more accurately.”
Offering apprenticeship roles is a key element of Aster’s corporate social responsibility work, Aster Foundation. The developer and landlord has committed to support a minimum of 12 apprenticeships or trainees each year as it seeks to provide opportunities for growth and career development to young, talented people.
Fiona Miller, call centre and performance manager for Aster, said: “Lauren has continued to go above and beyond in her role since she joined us and shows tremendous promise. Her time management skills, thirst to learn more and real care for customers shows in her work. She always wants to improve and be the best she possibly can be, and her attitude is first class.
“She has all of the attributes needed to build herself a very long and successful career and is a great example to follow for any young people considering a similar career.”
The SWCCF is an employers’ forum offering strategic advice, innovation and partnership for the 250+ contact centres located across the South West.
