Aster boost for Wiltshire Air Ambulance
Kind-hearted staff from leading housing provider Aster Group have handed over money left over from their monthly staff prize draw to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Colleagues from the company’s offices in Horton Avenue, Devizes, made the short journey to the charity’s Operations Centre in London Road, Devizes, to present them with a cheque for £1,000.
The prize draw – The 100 Club – sees Aster colleagues from all over the South West pay £1 per month for the chance to win cash prizes of up to £250.
Jane Horsell, Aster Group insurance manager and PA to the Group resources director, said: “When all the prizes have been handed out to staff from the 100 Club draw each month, we always have some money left over.
“When we’ve reached a significant sum, we ask colleagues in all of our offices to nominate a local charity they’d like us to make a donation to. We’ve been doing this for several years and it’s proved to be very popular.
“We had lots of great suggestions but Wiltshire Air Ambulance received the most nominations from our team in Devizes, while teams in our other offices made similar donations to their chosen charities.”
Rebecca de la Bedoyere, senior fundraising manager at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said: “We’re so grateful to the team at Aster for their generous support. We rely almost entirely on public donations to keep our lifesaving aircraft and crew flying, and this donation will help ensure we can be there for anyone who lives, works or travels in Wiltshire when they need us most. This is a fantastic example of how people can fundraise in the workplace, have fun and make a real difference to local charities. It was a pleasure to meet Jane and Linda, and we wish them all the best with future 100 Club events.”
