Bringing creativity to our communities in Wells
Bev Gustar of Humans of Weston has been working with the Aster Foundation’s mental wellness and resilience programme to bring feel good creativity to our community in Wells, Somerset.
Bev has been running a six-week creative arts course for some of our older customers living in our Independent Living Schemes in Wells. Bev has also been working with young people living with mental health illnesses to transform a summer house into a community space for people to enjoy.
Tracy Tattersall, a team leader who supports the young people and has worked on the project said: “The clients who participated in this gained a great deal. It was great to see and hear the positive comments about the time they spent with Bev. It enabled them to be both creative with art and enabled people to come together and spend time with others in a safe social setting. This can be a barrier for a lot of our clients, even just spending time with one other person can be overwhelming so it was really beneficial for the participants. We now also have a lovely mural on the wall created by the clients. Thank you once again for your time, energy, and enthusiasm to this project!”
The Aster Foundation is working with businesses, colleagues, and our communities to train and educate people on mental wellness and resilience with the aim of helping at least 20,000 people to improve their mental health and wellness by 2030. You can find out more on our website here.
