Shared ownership helps single parent buy her dream home
A mum-of-two from Oxfordshire who was priced out of the open market by sky-high property prices has bought her dream home thanks to shared ownership.
Keeley Dennyschene, 48, and her children Brandon, 19, and Madison, 15, previously lived with her mother in the Oxfordshire area for over three years. She dreamed of owning her own home but she was priced out of the open-market in the area where the average semi-detached home costs £371,535.
After hearing about shared ownership from a friend, Keeley came across our website. Together with her teenage son, she bought a 40% share of a three-bed end-terrace house for £118,000 with a deposit of just £5,900.
Keeley said: “I wouldn’t have been able to afford a brand new home if it wasn’t for shared ownership.
“All three of us living with my mother was such a squeeze. We needed to get out and have our own space. Now we have a room each to ourselves and space for guests to come over – it’s wonderful.”
