Talk Money Week – support for debt management and budgets
Our financial wellbeing and welfare reform teams support our customers by providing guidance on how to budget and reduce arrears. If you think you might benefit from their support, please speak to us on 0333 400 8222.
As part of Talk Money Week, a number customers have shared the different ways we’ve provided support to help them manage their money and get the support they’re entitled to with the help of our Financial Wellbeing service. You can read their stories below.
A single working mother who claimed Universal Credit had a debt management plan in place with StepChange for some of her debts, but there were two large arrears not covered in this plan which were causing her stress.
We helped our customer to manage these debts by working with her local council to write off some of the debt and help her continue to make her payments. Without this stress she can now make payments towards her arrears consistently.
The team also helped someone with a family member that had been awarded an Attendance Allowance benefit due to their health problems.
Our team let him know that his family member might also qualify for Pension Credit as well, giving them additional income. The family were able to use the advice provided to look into the benefits they were receiving and take steps towards accessing the extra support available to them.
