Top tips for a spring clean
Now we’re officially into spring, many of us may be thinking about an annual spring clean of our homes. Spring is the perfect time to rejuvenate your living space and create a fresh, inviting environment. Whether you’re tackling a full-scale deep clean or just want to spruce up a few smaller spaces around your home, here’s some top tips.
- Start with decluttering – before diving into cleaning tasks, declutter your home. Get rid of items you no longer need or use. You can donate, recycle or dispose of them. Clearing out any clutter will make the cleaning process more efficient and enjoyable.
- Take it one step at a time – Avoid feeling overwhelmed by focusing on one room or space at a time. Finish one room or area before moving onto the next to give yourself a sense of accomplishment.
- Tackle the bigger areas first – Start with the bigger decluttering or cleaning tasks while you’re full of energy. Whether that’s deep cleaning carpets, cleaning windows or organising closets, getting them out of the way first helps.
- Remember the hard-to-reach areas – Don’t neglect spots like ceiling fans, light fixtures and switches. Dust and wipe these areas down as part of a spring spruce for a thorough clean.
- Make it fun – Involve other members of the household, put on some music and get to work. Getting the family involved is a free activity and gives everyone a sense of achievement.
- Use green cleaning alternatives – Vinegar is excellent for removing limescale build-up on taps and cleaning windows. Mix bicarbonate of soda with water to create a scouring paste for worktops, sinks and cookers. Lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent and great for removing stains.
