Groundbreaking celebration marks start of 60 new affordable homes in Lyne

E G Carter & Co Ltd, in collaboration with Aster Group, have commenced construction of 60 new affordable homes on former redundant commercial land on Almners Road, Lyne.

This significant development was marked by a groundbreaking event attended by key stakeholders and partners, signifying the beginning of an exciting journey towards providing more much-needed affordable housing in the region.

E G Carter & Co Ltd hosted the event alongside members of the Aster team, showcasing a united commitment to addressing the growing demand for affordable housing. The collaboration aims to provide a mix of high-quality rental and shared ownership homes on brownfield land, contributing to the overall benefit of the local community.

Jane Gallifent, Development and Sales Director at Aster expressed enthusiasm about the project. She said: “It was great to come to site today to mark the start of construction of these new affordable homes. At a time when there is a chronic shortage of housing in this country, we are doing all we can to deliver our vision that everyone has an affordable, safe and secure place to call home.”

The development will be called 1215 in recognition of the historical significance of the area and a reference to the signing of the Magna Carta back in 1215.

The new homes in Lyne are being built with funding from Homes England, the government’s housing agency’s Affordable Homes Programme. The homes are expected to be ready for customers to move into in 2025.
