MP visits new Sutton Benger development
Aster Group’s new homes at The Park, Sutton Benger, received a ministerial seal of approval when North Wiltshire MP James Gray paid a visit to the development.
The company joined forces with the National House Building Council (NHBC) to host the MP at the site near Chippenham, which has seen a former brownfield site once home to a chicken factory, transformed to feature 84 brand-new homes.
Through a Section 106 agreement with developer Redrow Homes, Aster has delivered 25 homes at The Park, a combination of one and two-bedroom flats and two, three and four-bedroom houses. Six of the homes are for shared ownership with the remainder for affordable rent.
Bjorn Howard, Aster Group chief executive, says: “As an ethical developer and landlord we are focused on building new homes and playing our part in solving the nation’s housing crisis.
“We operate in the spirit of doing the right thing and we’re proud to partner with housebuilders such as Redrow to deliver high-quality housing for local communities.”
James Gray MP said: “Here we have a brownfield site, in the middle of the village; it includes 19 houses at an affordable rent and six for part ownership. It has been built to the highest quality to fit in with the village – garden walls of Cotswold stone and delightful village greens amongst other attractive features. Who could possibly object to such an excellent development?”
Sophie Fernandes, NHBC public affairs manager, said: “We were delighted to be able to show Mr Gray this new development which provides a mix of homes for private and affordable units.
“NHBC works closely with housebuilders to support the delivery of high-quality homes. We also work with Parliamentarians to develop and promote good housing policy.”
